FAQs
An Initial Assessment will be scheduled to gather preliminary information, complete required forms, and to learn about you and your goals for therapy. This will also be an opportunity for you to ask any and all questions that you may have about us and how therapy will work. We will try to match you with your particular therapist for this assessment, but it may be necessary to place you with another therapist after the initial assessment if one is better suited to meet your needs. This is an opportunity for you to determine your comfort level with the process, and with us.
Length of Treatment will be determined by you and your therapist, and will be periodically reviewed while you are in treatment. Some clients are seeking a therapist for a stated reason such as the death of a loved one, or a divorce, and others seek therapy for more pervasive reasons such as depression or anxiety. Length of treatment will vary based upon your needs, and your response to the therapy process. This will be determined in an ongoing conversation between you and your therapist.
Termination will be determined by you and your therapist when you have met your goals for therapy, and/or when you and your therapist decide that you are able to continue to manage your personal goals outside of therapy, or when you and your therapist decide that you will continue your work with another professional. Growth and change is a lifelong process, whether within the structure or without, and our goal for you is to empower you to cope better, and also to ask for assistance when you need it. You are always welcome to return to therapy to process issues in your life as they arise, or to address new goals that you identify.
Individual, Couples, or Family Therapy? These different ways of engaging in psychotherapy will be determined by the goal that you are addressing, and also in conversation between you and your therapist. Some issues are better addressed in individual therapy, while some are better addressed in other groupings.
